Caterpillar is seeking a Fabrication Production Manager in Athens, GA. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of a more complex production line, prepares schedules, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Run a small business unit for People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
  • Monitors and improves shop floor safety, aggressively eliminates unsafe processes 
  • Assures fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production schedules
  • Determines priorities and sequences jobs
  • Schedules and prioritizes constrained resources, and adjusts staffing to meet flow and customer requirements
  • Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Procures and distributes production material to meet schedules
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
  • Implements, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification and others
  • Evaluates, assess, identifies and leads the deployment of workforce training
  • Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles
  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members 
  • Drives root cause corrective action projects and drives continuous improvement
  • Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics
  • Leads the creation, implementation and training of standard work procedures

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Extensive experience in Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
  • A working knowledge of Production Training: Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.
  • A working knowledge in Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • A 4-year degree in a manufacturing discipline
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing related field
  • Experience in multiple manufacturing support disciplines.
  • Experience managing teams to production, budgetary, and efficiency targets.

The primary location for this position is Athens, GA.
