A Day in the Life

The Endoscopy Operating Unit has created a business out of disrupting the status quo in the detection, prevention, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and chronic diseases. We’ve done this by commercializing transformational technologies that improve patient management and standards of care while increasing access to our innovations worldwide.

This is a Director role reporting to the VP of Finance in the Endoscopy OU.

This is an onsite role that needs to sit at one of these locations: Santa Clara, CA; Mounds View, MN; or Lafayette, CO

         

         

Key Responsibilities Include

As a key member of the executive team, you will provide financial leadership to grow the business and drive profitability.

  • Lead the financial planning and analysis activities for Endoscopy Operating Unit (OU)
  • Closely interact with OU President and CFO to determine optimal capital allocation of Portfolio funding, deliver recap of financial performance, and provide support for other executive presentations. Generates forecasts and analyzes P&L, Balance Sheet and market trends.
  • Interpret and analyze actual financial performance versus plan or forecast, providing variance analyses and actively researching root causes of variances assessing risks and opportunities. 
  • Lead and oversee FP&A staff driving process improvement, standardization and productivity projects across OU
  • Work with OU CFO to ensure achievement of monthly or quarterly financial commitments.
  • Organize solutions when issues arise. Structure business information on a global basis to identify specific risks and opportunities. Apply quantitative and qualitative factors, skills and business experience to arrive at meaningful conclusions and recommendations. Develop innovative alternatives.
  • Develop and direct oversight of FP&A Center of Excellence at the Portfolio, providing standardized templates, data submissions, select functional support, and key metric reporting on behalf of the OU structure
  • Actively participate in helping provide guidance and process support across the OUs while also functioning as a key liaison with the Global/Corporate teams.
  • Understand and effectively apply internal control principles and objectives, including Medtronic's Key Corporate Policies.
  • Ability to operate within a complex organization. Strong influence management skills,  demonstrate superior judgment, shape business results, inspire others to excel, communicate with impact, demand ethical behavior, and drive execution.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have

  • MBA and financial systems implementation experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills, and high degree of initiative and influence management skills.
  • Successful track record of supervising a diverse financial team.

  • Financial analysis: Organizes and structures business information to identify specific risks and opportunities. Applies quantitative and qualitative factors, skills and business experience, to arrive at meaningful conclusions and recommendations. Develops innovative alternatives and solutions when issues arise.
  • Internal controls: Understands and effectively applies internal control principles and objectives, including Medtronic's Key Corporate Policies.
  • Planning & reporting: Accurately monitors and projects the organization's financial performance. Provides performance measures and interprets results in view of plans and objectives.
  • Professional effectiveness/ Leadership competencies: Ability to operate within a complex organization. Strong influence management skills demonstrate superior judgment, shape business results, inspire others to excel, communicate with impact, demand ethical behavior, and drive execution.
  • Ensure the quality policy/system is planned, understood, implemented and maintained by ensuring compliance within the department.
  • Ensure departmental compliance as well as appropriate departmental resources are available to effectively maintain the quality system (people, facilities, tools, and training).

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$194,400.00 - $291,600.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
