Work Location: Onsite - Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Packaging Design & Development: Design and engineer packaging solutions for a variety of products, with an emphasis on crating and shipping for safe delivery. This includes selecting appropriate materials, dimensions, and packaging techniques.

  • Material Selection: Evaluate and recommend packaging materials that ensure product safety during transit, while considering cost efficiency, environmental sustainability, and regulatory standards.

  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline packaging processes, standardize packaging solutions to minimize SKU’s, reduce costs, and improve product handling and delivery efficiency. Implement packaging systems that enhance workflow.

  • Testing & Validation: Conduct packaging performance tests (e.g., drop tests, vibration tests, compression tests in conjunction with our supplier) to ensure packaging solutions meet required specifications and standards.

  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and product development, to align packaging designs with product requirements and shipping constraints. Work with supply chain teams to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve efficiency across sourcing, transportation, and inventory management.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed packaging specifications, guidelines, CAD drawings, and reports for new and existing packaging designs. Ensure all packaging designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement eco-friendly packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact while maintaining product protection. Drive 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) initiatives in collaboration with vendors and customers to promote sustainability.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on industry trends, new materials, and innovations in packaging technologies. Introduce and implement new solutions to improve efficiency, sustainability, and overall performance.

  • Vendor Management: Oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) for vendors to improve quality, delivery, and compliance with contractual agreements.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent, or in relevant field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Packaging Engineering, preferably in SEMI manufacturing equipment crating, packaging, or logistics.

  • In-depth knowledge of packaging materials (such as wood, corrugated, foam, etc.), design principles, and testing procedures to ensure robust and cost-effective packaging solutions.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and packaging design tools (e.g., AutoCAD) to create precise and efficient packaging layouts.

  • Strong understanding of shipping and logistics processes, including international shipping regulations and standards for safe, compliant, and cost-effective transport.

  • Expertise in sustainability practices and the ability to recommend and implement environmentally friendly packaging solutions without compromising performance or cost-efficiency.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
