Position Summary:
The Academic Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of tutoring in all subject areas and administering academic and certification exams. This includes scheduling, tracking students, promoting tutoring services, and ensuring the integrity and documentation of academic assessments. The role requires providing direct tutoring in math or writing, maintaining tutoring objectives for Academic Support Services, and working closely with the Testing Services Manager to maintain current certification in proctoring skills and procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create a professional and welcoming environment for tutoring, respecting students’ diverse cultures, language skills, abilities, and experience.
  • Serve as a math or writing tutor, promoting independent learning among students.
  • Ensure proper usage of tutoring tracking software and academic assessment tools; create reports as needed.
  • Direct student questions and concerns to the appropriate faculty and/or department.
  • Promote tutoring, supplemental instruction, and proctoring services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist with special projects requiring tutoring and proctoring expertise.
  • Build awareness and collaborate with student affairs staff about the services and needs of students.
  • Maintain and develop training for online tutoring resources and  proctoring procedures.
  • Provide staff coverage for the Learning Resource Center, including academic testing, certification testing, and library services.
  • Administer academic and certification exams, including on-campus proctoring of virtual appointments, ensuring a secure and efficient testing environment.
  • Schedule appointments for exams, determining candidate eligibility and exam availability.
  • Participate in training to stay abreast of technical areas related to tutoring and proctoring.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation for diversity and promote it as an integral part of one’s work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Evidence of academic proficiency in Math or English, with a preference for previous tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs and software/hardware for test administration.
  • Excellent human relations, interpersonal communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to evaluate students' work, promote independent learning, and maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Flexibility, patience, and the ability to multitask, with a commitment to a sustainable culture of diversity, equity, and belonging.
  • Ability to work flexible and expanded hours as needed, especially during heavy volume testing periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior Assessment Center experience or tutoring experience.
