The Principal Manufacturing System Engineer will be responsible to develop and implement foundational capabilities in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering across Nike’s APAC supplier base. This role is pivotal in driving quality and manufacturing efficiency within the manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with Nike’s strategic objectives.

Your Main responsibilities

  • Leadership: Lead to build strategy and execution plan for Nike’ Apparel and Accessories’ Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering principles within Nike’s manufacturing partner base to elevate their capabilities.
  • Partnership: Collaborate with the Product Risk Engineering, Senior Manager, Manufacturing System Engineering and Advance Manufacturing Engineering teams to align and drive Nike’s strategic manufacturing goals and continuous improvement objectives and to support the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies that enhances foundational capabilities and connect the dots to Nike’s overall enterprise strategy and business goals.
  • Product Risk Assessment: Build a strong partnership with Nike’s Product Risk Engineering and Product Creation teams, to deploy Nike’s product performance standards and lead the standardization of manufacturing processes, ensuring consistency and efficiency across Nike’s APAC partner base.
  • Manufacturing Readiness: Build rigor in manufacturing integration process, leveraging engineering tools and best practices with quality/process engineering to mitigate risk at production.
  • Manufacturing Execution: Operate with world-class production quality engineering processes to assure perfect product is made right at the first time.
  • Manufacturing Efficiency: Drive strategic roadmap to improve overall efficiency of Nike’s factory partners.
  • Inspections & Audits: Continuously elevate the game in product inspection and audits and drive confluence with MSE teams and Issue Management team and Nike’s Manufacturing leadership.
  • Marketplace Feedback: Incorporate consumer feedback based on in-market product quality, and lessons applied to future product/manufacturing improvements.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented initiatives and their impact on manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for process improvements, leveraging Industrial Engineering methodologies to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
  • Oversee the application of Garment Engineering principles to innovate and standardize manufacturing processes, improving product quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with the Director, Manufacturing & System Engineering to align initiatives with Nike’s broader strategic roadmap for in-region manufacturing.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies and processes, ensuring they are effectively integrated and aligned with foundational capabilities.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination within the team and across the global supplier base, promoting a culture of innovation and learning.
     

What You Bring:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, with a strong background in Quality, Industrial Engineering, Lean, and Garment Engineering.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Expertise in process engineering and the ability to analyze and improve complex manufacturing processes.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing technologies and automation, with experience in integrating new technologies into existing systems.
  • Proficiency in GSD and background in factory capacity planning & management.
  • Experience in deploying and sustaining Continuous Improvement Methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different cultures and organizational levels.
  • A bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications in relevant disciplines are preferred.
