The compensation for this position is between $70,800 and $88,500 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary

We are seeking a results-driven Buyer to support our Oakville manufacturing operations. In this role, you will manage purchasing activities aligned with forecast and budget targets, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. You will play a key role in optimizing inventory, strengthening supplier partnerships, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize inventory levels to ensure material availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence

  • Execute purchasing activities based on MRP recommendations, forecasts, and budget parameters

  • Create and release purchase orders for direct and indirect materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance

  • Analyze demand trends and establish inventory parameters (min/max, EOQ, reorder points)

  • Implement and improve replenishment strategies (e.g., Kanban, VMI, automation initiatives)

  • Monitor supplier performance, manage relationships, and support sourcing initiatives

  • Identify and drive cost savings, process improvements, and operational efficiencies

  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Operations, Scheduling, Quality, Engineering, Sales, Planning, Sourcing) to align supply chain activities

  • Track and report on KPIs, investigating and explaining variances

  • Maintain accurate master data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP S4HANA)

  • Support on-time delivery through proactive order management and supplier follow-up

  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) processes and stage-gate initiatives

  • Manage supplier quality concerns through SCAR processes

  • Prepare and analyze purchasing reports as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing/sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment (direct and/or indirect)
  • Strong Strategic Sourcing experience (negotiation and supplier management) and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and inventory management principles
  • Experience with SAP (S4HANA) or similar ERP systems preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, build dashboards, VLOOKUP; macros and Power BI are assets)
  • Knowledge of MRO and BOM structures
  • Demonstrated experience with Kanban, VMI, and plant operations
  • Professional certifications (CPIM, CSCP, SCMP, CPM) considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
