Demand Manager

Job Purpose: 

To create and implement a wide range of Demand Management strategies driven by broad Caterpillar and Lafayette policies and the objectives of Large Power Systems Division, within Energy & Transportation. 

What you will do: 

• Create, implement and maintain robust forecasting process that delivers projected demand data to the manufacturing units at the level required to achieve sound operational efficiency, meeting customer needs.  

• Lead and facilitate the development, deployment, and execution of the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process. 

• Work directly with dealers, customers, and internal Cat partners on developing and improving demand and supply planning processes related to Lafayette engine builds 

• Consult on demand signals and inventory planning with relevant business partners to ensure appropriate mitigating actions are taken to meet customer expectations.  

• Support projects and processes related to the increased usage and effectiveness of data analytics in the demand planning and S&OP value streams. 

• Resolve the often very complex non- reoccurring demand conflict and abnormal demand, coordinating the resolution through sales teams, customers, and manufacturing operations 

• Create and maintain a process for the continuous improvement of customer lead times and adherence to common goals agreements, with full considerations of strategic issues surrounding each customer and product offering. 

Education: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science, Engineering or Supply Chain related field from an accredited university

• Strong Experience in one or more of the following areas: Demand planning, Orders, inventory management, supply chain 

• Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with many different levels of business partners internally and externally 

• Excellent human relations skills to develop collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders and process partners 

• High initiative, flexible and eager to learn 

• Project Management and/or Process Owner experience with strong facilitation skills 

• Creative / Think outside the box / Challenge the status quo attitude 

• High Caterpillar business acumen and understanding

Core Application Systems: Extensive Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations. 
 
Operational Functions: Expert Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. 
 
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Working Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. 
 
Process Management: Extensive Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes. 
 
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. 
 
Problem Solving: Extensive Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. 
 
Planning and Organizing: Extensive Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way. 
 
Supply Chain Management: Working Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
