The IT Manager II – Monitoring & Tools is responsible for leading the enterprise Monitoring, Observability, and Tools engineering team. This role ensures the availability, performance, and reliability of critical infrastructure, applications, and cloud services through effective monitoring strategies, platform governance, and operational excellence.Lead and manage the Monitoring & Tools engineering team, including observability, logging, and alerting platforms
Define team priorities aligned with Infrastructure & Operations strategy, SLAs, and reliability objectives
Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for engineering staff
Drive cross-functional collaboration across Infrastructure, Network, Security, Cloud, and Application teams
Own and manage enterprise monitoring platforms, including APM, infrastructure monitoring, and log management tools
Ensure monitoring coverage across applications, infrastructure, cloud, middleware, and network services
Establish and enforce standards for alerting, dashboards, metrics, and reporting
Ensure monitoring coverage for critical systems to support availability and performance objectives
Lead proactive incident detection and resolution, reducing MTTR and service disruptions
Oversee root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
Support 24x7 operational readiness, including incident response processes
Define and execute monitoring and observability strategy, including roadmap development
Identify opportunities for automation, tool consolidation, and platform optimization
Drive adoption of modern observability practices (metrics, logs, traces, synthetic monitoring)
Evaluate and recommend tools and capabilities to improve reliability and performance
Ensure monitoring solutions align with enterprise security policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
Partner with Risk, Security, and Audit teams to support compliance, controls, and reporting
Maintain documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
Serve as a primary point of contact for Monitoring & Tools services across business units
Manage intake, prioritization, and delivery of monitoring-related requests
Provide reporting and insights on system health, performance, and operational KPIs
What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in Monitoring, Observability, Infrastructure Engineering, or related disciplines
3+ years of leadership or team management experience
Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring platforms (APM, infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting tools)
Experience supporting cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS)
Strong understanding of application, infrastructure, and network performance concepts
Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and operational support
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
Experience with tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar platforms
Knowledge of SRE and observability practices
Familiarity with automation and integration approaches, including APIs and infrastructure-as-code workflows
Experience establishing enterprise standards, governance, and best practices
