The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a skilled Senior Payroll Officer to join our team in South Melbourne! We’re looking for a detail-driven payroll expert who can take charge of payroll operations, ensuring smooth processes, regulatory compliance, and outstanding service to our valued employees. If you’re passionate about accuracy, compliance, and creating a positive impact within a team-focused environment this could be the role for you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing end-to-end payroll for 4000 employees including onboarding and terminations.

  • Interpret Awards and Agreements.

  • Assist with the timely management of month-end.

  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager and wider team.

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to resolve payroll-related inquiries.

  • Prepare payroll reports and analysis for management.

  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry (but not essential).

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g., Ichris/Chris21, Kronos Dimensions/Pro Workforce)

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cert IV in Payroll Admin, TAPS/APA short courses and Aust Wide Tax Courses) are a plus.

  • Exposure to Enterprise Bargaining Agreements ideally in the construction sector.

  • Positive attitude and enjoys working in a team environment.
