Financial Services Technology delivers and runs the technology that powers the financial management capabilities of Australia’s leading bank. The business capabilities we support within the Financial Services division include Group Finance, Business Unit Finance, Audit, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Investor Relations, Property, and Procurement. We manage almost 100 systems, deliver business change outcomes, improve system performance, and improve the employee experience for our user base.

Our application portfolio includes ERP systems (e.g., Oracle), specialised business solutions (e.g., Quantitative Risk Management), and mobile apps (e.g., Staff Deals, xClaim). Working with our colleagues across Group Technology we are modernising the Finance function through SaaS, Cloud, AI, next-gen BI, and low/no code technologies while taking a data and architecture-led approach to simplifying the financial data supply chain. The Finance Platform Technology team owns and supports the groups Finance Technology capabilities.

A new subledger will be available within the aptitude application from Oct 2024. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in being part of the aptitude application DevOps team producing high quality, sustainable solutions to meet business requirements, leveraging approved delivery frameworks. In this role you will also work closely with aptitude product owner and aptitude SMEs as well as the subledger project delivery team which includes technical consultants, business analysts, and solution architects.

  • Have experience with the Full-cycle development and delivery using Agile practices with specific focus on the following: Aptitude software, SQL, CI/CD, Databases, and automation.

  • Are actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation and innovation while contributing to the definition and governance of our standards and best practices.

  • Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.

  • Can coach junior engineers, share knowledge to uplift and improve software development practices.

  • Works well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Expertise on Aptitude software and different Aptitude architectural process like Hopper, SLR.

  • To build logic for new system integration in Aptitude software/ application to generate sub leger and GL code block information.

  • Solid experience with SQL coding in Aptitude software.

  • Knowledge on Aptitude scheduler required to run and monitor batch jobs.

  • Proficient with building ETL logic using IBM DataStage application as per design document for new systems.

  • Working knowledge on suspense & GL char filed combination concept and able to design code to handle same in ETL using DataStage.

  • Support operation team during job failure – Able to decode reason for job failure and guide ops team to address failure.

  • Performance tuning of ETL job to improve processing time.
