A Brief Overview:
As a Histology Technician Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our laboratory operations by overseeing the histology team and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of tissue specimens for pathological analysis. You will collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
What you will do:
- Providing leadership and guidance to the histology team, including Histology Technicians and Assistants.
- Scheduling and assigning work tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource allocation.
- Conducting performance evaluations and provide training and mentorship to team members.
- Performing complex histological procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting, according to established protocols.
- Ensuring the highest standards of quality control and adherence to laboratory regulations.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting histology equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and staining machines.
- Coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Managing histology supplies and reagents, including ordering, inventory tracking, and cost control.
- Monitoring and restocking necessary materials to prevent workflow interruptions.
- Maintaining accurate records of specimen processing, including labeling, tracking, and documentation of procedures.
- Assisting with data entry and maintenance of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitoring and enforcing quality assurance and quality control protocols.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of new protocols and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Participating in safety training and maintain a safe laboratory environment.
What you will need:
- 2 Years experience as a Histology Technician, with prior leadership or supervisory experience.
- Associate's degree or higher in Histology, preferred
- Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Or
- Certified Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Required
