The Caterpillar MineStar Onboard Specialist is a mine site-based role where you can work hand in hand with our customers. In this developmental role you will ensure the Command for Hauling equipment and system is working at its optimum performance. You will troubleshoot issues, and work with a multidisciplinary team to rectify any faults. You also have the ability to identify improvement opportunities and work with the Caterpillar engineering team to drive product improvements.

This role will be well suited to someone who wants to develop and grow their skills around autonomous mining trucks. Someone who thrives on challenges and enjoys driving continual improvement. Full product training will be provided as part of your on-boarding process, including our on-board networks/machine control systems and how to troubleshoot them. Training program is tailored to the individual, which may include classroom training, on the job training and mentoring.

What you will do:

Work with experienced peers to develop your skills.

Manage machine and system integration.

Identify field issues, troubleshoot and then track progress.

Analyze data relating to Autonomous and base machine faults, including regular evaluation of the data accuracy and integrity of the system.

Work with the Engineering teams to provide input and develop a plan for system enhancements and upgrades.

Report on the working status of hardware and software of the Autonomous system to Engineering.

Understand the proper procedures in case of critical failures in the system • Train other staff and mentor junior team members.

Present your findings to customer maintenance and operations team.

What skills you will have:

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of mining technology products and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

· Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical mining trucks.

· Knowledge of off-board communications and experience with radios and networks

· Experience developing or testing on-board machine control systems or off-board mine control systems

· Ability to integrate and maintain a complex electronic system on a machine utilizing schematic models.

Field Support: Experience in providing post-sales support and maintaining hardware products.

Problem Solving: Ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational, or process problems effectively.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a complex team.

Analytical Skills: Analytical skills that can be used to troubleshoot electronic systems to understand root cause.

Top Candidates will also have:

A degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mining Engineering.

Motivated self-starter capable of working with others to complete all tasks accountable to them on time.

Experience at a mine-site in a camp environment on a roster.

Additional Information:

On-Board Specialists work 7x7 day shift. Site is a 45-minute drive from Kamloops, BC. Carpooling is provided to and from site, a hotel option close to site is available.

Domestic relocation to Kamloops, BC is available.

Applicants will assume this position at the applicable salary grade according to Caterpillar's Training Track standard process.

Summary Pay Range:

$81,600 - $101,880

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
