Overview:

Provide proactive legal liaison support to and under the general direction of M&T Bank Legal Counsel representing the ShareIT and Customer Identification Program functions of M&T Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct research, analyze, and interpret legal documents for validity, content, accuracy, bank policy and compliance with a focus on the U.S. Patriot Act and M&T Bank’s Know Your Customer (KYC) Guidelines based on the guidance and direction from M&T Bank Legal Counsel.
• . Docus on Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Representative Payee, Estates, and Guardianships/Conservatorships in both the retail and business banking deposit space.
• Maintain contact with and act as a liaison between M&T Bank Legal Counsel and Banking Services with respect to workload as assigned.
• Assess M&T Bank forms for the purpose of determining whether any revisions are necessary by changes in bank policy, risk tolerance or product set offered.
• Assist Banking Services with interactions with the branch network while maintaining a working knowledge and understanding of laws, common law, and regulations applicable to the subject matter assigned, based on guidance and direction from M&T Banks Legal Counsel.

• Adhere to applicable compliance/operation risk controls in accordance with M&T Bank.

• Administrative responsibilities, including document maintenance, conducting regular scheduled training, and work tracking. Responsible for determining escalation or communication needed.

• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand while maintaining M&T Bank internal control standards.

• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ related experience

Proven analytical skills

Strong organizational skills

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software

Proven verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree

Prior experience in functional areas supported

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $24.76 - $41.27 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
