Join Vanguard’s Global Workplace Experience (GWx) team as a Project Engineering Manager. This role recommends, plans, and directs the design, engineering, construction of facilities across Vanguard’s global portfolio (domestic and international) and is accountable for the lifecycle replacement project portfolio (~$30M per year) and small projects (high volume, small dollar projects ~$15M per year). This role also contributes to short- and long-term facility management strategy and manages capital budget to ensure units operate within budgetary guidelines.

The Project Engineering Manager:

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Manages local service providers and contracts. Conducts supplier governance and performance management activities.
  • Tracks industry and application trends to contribute to planning current and future design and construction projects.
  • Establishes KPI targets/performance objectives for the site(s) and drives performance, cost savings, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Support Vanguard strategic real estate projects with development of engineering Owner’s Project Requirements, Basis of Design review, Gate reviews, design sign-offs, selected submittal reviews, and RFI responses.
  • Manage the overall Commissioning program including ownership of standards and management of 3rd party providers.
  • Champion and Chief Advocate of the Vanguard Engineering Standards
  • Develops and maintains the long range lifecycle capital replacement plan for the Vanguard building infrastructure
  • Provides strategic direction on Real Estate projects to ensure engineering principles are applied to set the building up for success
  • Ensure seamless handoff from project execution teams to operations teams through project closeout
  • Provides subject matter expert input to engineering related matters for all project work related to corporate office buildings.
  • Manage the small project execution team that does high volume, small dollar project work to enable business teams across all Vanguard locations (domestic and international) 
  • Builds a problem-solving culture

What it takes:

  • Mechanical, electrical, industrial or equivalent engineering degree strongly preferred
  • Construction management experience
  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least five years of engineering and construction experience
  • Management experience preferred
  • Building Commissioning experience preferred
  • Knowledge of computer software related to BAS (Building Automation Systems), CAD (computer aided design) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills as role will entail significant interaction with a variety of stakeholders internal and external
