The Role

The Finance team in Genmab is growing and is now looking for a Senior Manager.

This is a key position within the Accounting Operations Team and a great opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and ambitious accounting professional. You will be working in a highly motivated team of experienced finance professionals in an organization where we value innovation, determination, integrity, and teamwork.

We seek a candidate who can effectively balance a hands-on approach to daily tasks with the ability to work strategically and holistically in optimizing processes and leading resources.

This hybrid position reports to the Director of Accounting Operations in Copenhagen, Denmark. You will be part of a large global finance team.

Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who will bring solid accounting and leadership experience from similar positions in international companies.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals (8-11 team members)

  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide ongoing coaching and development to enhance team capabilities

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture

Financial Operations Management

  • Oversee all general accounting operations in US and Europe, including but not limited to GL management, month-end and year-end closings, reconciliations, and journal entries

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes

  • Review and approve reconciliations, and various financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, internal controls, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS)

  • Lead internal and external audit processes, working closely with auditors to address any queries and ensure smooth audits

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks related to accounting operations

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior leadership

  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances; provide insights and recommendations to drive business decisions

  • Collaborate with other departments to understand and manage financial impacts of business initiatives

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy

  • Lead system implementations, upgrades, or improvements related to the general ledger and other financial systems

  • Ensure strong internal controls are in place and actively improve them as necessary


Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred

Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role

Additionally:

- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS

- Proficiency with accounting software (preferably SAP, but not a must) and advanced Excel skills

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

- Proactive in identifying and addressing accounting issues

- Strong communication skills - both oral and written

- A team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Scientists, Trial Managers, Data Managers, Clinicians, vendors labs) to support product development strategy
