Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department located in the state-of-the-art hospital. Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. 


We are looking to add a Clinical Risk Manager to the team. The Manager directs the organization's clinical risk management program on a day-to-day basis and implements clinical risk management initiatives to ensure operational alignment with assigned Hospital/Institute and organizational objectives. You will coordinate with nursing, care management, medical staff, and others as appropriate to ensure compliance with all standards and favorable performance clinical risk management metrics. 

  

A caregiver in this position works Days + Calls, from 8:00am—4:30pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Collaborate with leadership and support teams to develop and achieve clinical risk management goals and accomplish duties assigned to the role. 

  • Incorporate enterprise priorities and regulatory requirements and benchmarks. 

  • Conduct and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA); identifies root cause and causal factors of events leading to sustainable improvement. 

  • Apply management processes for disclosure of unanticipated outcomes and medical errors. 

  • Present risk and safety data and efficiently leads meetings. 

  • Perform all duties under supervision of the department leader or experienced CRMs. 

  • Identify cases that may be potential claims and provide an early notification to other departments (Law, ERI) once identified. 

  • Present cases to Medical Legal, Huddle I and Huddle II in a timely manner. 

  • Participate in Institute/Hospital Committees representing Clinical Risk Management. 

  • Drive continuous improvement activity around clinical risk management priorities and coordinate improvement projects. 

  • Act as the local expert in clinical risk management for the Hospital/Institute. 

  • Facilitate risk and safety event data analysis and decision making. 

  • Support enterprise improvement projects, as necessary. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Registered Nurse (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) OR bachelor's degree in a health sciences discipline. 

  • Registered Nursing (RN) licensure. 

  • Five years clinical experience 
     

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • One year risk management, quality management OR legal nurse consulting experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.

  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.

  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
