Your New Role and Responsibilities

The Risk and Issue Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination, administrative, and Operational support services across Defence Digital Modernisation.

This role you will support the identification, assessment and management of risks, issues and opportunities across the program ensuring information is accurate, processes are followed, and improvements are always at the front of mind.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate risk governance cadence and secretariat support: schedule meetings, prepare agendas, record accurate minutes, and track actions to closure.

  • Maintain high‑quality risk and issue registers: validate entries for completeness and consistency, ensuring required fields, treatment details, and status are up to date.

  • Prepare clear, timely reporting: compile dashboards, packs, and status summaries that communicate risk posture and trends for DDM leadership and Defence stakeholders.

  • Enable and uplift stakeholders: provide guidance, quick reference materials, and ad‑hoc training to improve the consistency and effectiveness of risk/issue management practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement: identify process bottlenecks, implement workflow and reporting enhancements, and support alignment to client, legislative, and regulatory requirements.

About You and What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated coordination excellence: proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and deliver accurate outputs under pressure.

  • Applied risk management experience: ability to interpret and apply risk frameworks in similar environments; formal risk qualifications or equivalent experience advantageous.

  • Tool proficiency: strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with familiarity in workflow/reporting tools for registers, dashboards, and action tracking.

  • Stakeholder engagement: clear written and verbal communication with a collaborative style, able to partner effectively with operational leaders and identified Defence stakeholders.

  • Resilient and adaptable: shows initiative, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic; able to provide coverage and continuity for the Risk & Issue Manager when required.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a Baseline level security clearance but be willing and able to uplift to an NV-1.
