Provide access control and protection for ERCOT against unauthorized intrusion or acts of sabotage. Responsible for a variety of customer service and security related duties that include providing information and assistance to visitors, employees, and staff; patrolling areas to detect security, safety and/or fire hazards; securing buildings; monitoring and controlling access to buildings and parking lots; information security; reporting incidents through detailed documentation; responding to calls for service; and assisting local authorities during emergencies.

JOB DUTIES

  • Has basic skills in an analytical, technical, or operational process. Acquires job skills and learns standard ERCOT policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Works on assignments that are routine in nature. Refers difficult or less routine issues to supervisor or higher-level workers for assistance.
  • Works within clearly defined operating procedures. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works under close supervision.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Control access of personnel, materials and vehicles
  • Process security access of visitors
  • Operate radios, telephones and computer equipment
  • Monitor alarm system and CCTV equipment
  • Perform security patrols and observe any and all activity at assigned post
  • Provide first responder services as needed
  • Report equipment malfunctions that could have adverse impact to security, safety, or  operations
  • Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations
  • Interact with ERCOT employees, contractors, and visitors at ERCOT facilities with courtesy and professionalism
  • Be available to provide security services at other ERCOT locations as needed
  • Compose reports for record of events and/or incidents
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires minimum 2 years’ experience in a physical security, law enforcement, corrections, military or customer service capacity

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.

LICENSES

  • Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Commissioned Security Officer (Preferred)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Pass a physical abilities test in accordance with the Security Training and Qualification Guidelines
  • Pass State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

Day Shift 6AM - 6PM
