Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are looking for a Camera System Engineer to design Figure next generation sensors and image processing pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Define the Camera System architecture, requirements, verification and validation plans
- Select or design optics, protective glass and coating, and closely collaborate with the mechanical team to define camera locations
- Lead components selection for the camera system including image sensors, ISP and vision processors
- Conduct trades studies to support requirements definitions and drive components selection
- Perform data collections with various sensor configurations, sensors and optics
- Create models of cameras and image processing pipelines
- Define performance metrics and perform quantitative analysis of the camera system performance
- Conduct latency estimations and measurements and propose optimizations to reduce latency
- Oversee relationships with camera and SoC vendors
- Contribute to the processing module hardware design or the development of algorithms for the signal processing pipeline
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience designing and characterizing complex camera systems
- Deep understanding of image and Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors characteristics
- Fundamental understanding of camera optics
- Solid knowledge of image signal processing algorithms
- Experience modeling vision processing pipelines using Matlab or Python
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
- Proficiency in C++ or C
- Solid EE fundamentals with hands-on experience designing, building, and testing PCBAs
- Experience using 3D CAD software to design parts
