Summary:

  • We're looking for an experienced Business Development Director to join our Expansion Team in Europe.
  • You will manage the relations with Issuers (mobile network operators (MNOs), A2A, ewallets, payment service providers and local payment method providers (LPM) and schemes), and merchants on the project basis where a local expertise and account management might be required in our efforts to expand the business with strategic merchants in the region.
  • This is a visible position that will define the payment strategy and help to achieve further growth for Boku in Europe.
  • It’s expected that in this role you will be the key commercial interface and responsible to identify, engage, develop, on-board and manage new and existing partners.

Location: Europe

Coverage: Western and Souther Europe (may be required to cover other regions as necessary) 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Business Development & Partners Management

  1. Develop the necessary strategies to execute and grow payment opportunities in Europe.
  2. Understand the payments business in Europe to identity, qualify, develop, manage and execute the Supply pipeline for Payment (i.e ewallets, A2A, carriers)
  3. Support smooth & efficient partners on-boarding & service launch, ensuring full compliance to Boku’s business ethics, audit, and regulatory guidelines.
  4. Negotiate with partners to optimise conversion, improve pricing & marketing support and manage operational contract addendum, invoice & settlement issues
  5. Establish and manage strong relationships & rapport with key decision makers in MNOs/ewallets/A2A/merchants
  6. Become key ‘problem solver’ for partners in any matters related to Mobile Payments
  7. Knowledge of the regulation landscape around licensing, settlement and banking to enable the selected candidate to lead discussiosn with payment authorities, partners, and banks as required.
  8. Navigate and negotiate non-standard win-win business models with the leading industry players to assure long-lasting cooperation, and support company’s high growth ambitions and vision
  9. Take responsibility for quarterly targets & KPIs

2. Interact and communication:

  1. Working closely with EMEA management to develop the Payment strategy; ensure alignment on commercial strategies and business objectives.
  2. Working closely with internal stakeholders (i.e. Product, Project, Legal, Finance, Sales, Account Management, tax, regulatory and banking teams etc) to finalize commercial, close contracts & complete technical integration with Payment partners (i.e. MNOs/ewallets/PSPs/A2A, merchants)
  3. Act as the ‘partners’ champion’ within the organisation, and Boku’s ambassador to partners.

QUALIFICATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A university degree/diploma in a related field; preferrably in Business Adminstration, Sales & Marketing
  • At least 5+ years of experience in business development, project management, product development, payments, remmittence or aggregation business.
  • Strong advantage if candidate has experience working in the Payment, Telco, eCommerce, FinTech; preferably in Mobile Payment, Alternative Payment, Local Payment Methods.
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills – must enjoy working with community of internal stakeholders and external business partners
  • Relevant experience supporting technical partnerships and/or integrations
  • Effective multitasking, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills
  • Experience with BI (e.g. Tableau) and JIRA is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English (other languages will be a plus)
  • Ability to travel for internal and external meetings
