As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will:
- Leverage experience in laser material processing to identify/ integrate/evaluate new laser sources, beam delivery, and optical equipment to enable best in class laser cutting for Nitinol, L605, MP35N and polymer materials (including PET, PEBAX, PTFE, PI, and others)
- Work with Process Engineering Manager to scope out capital equipment, identify vendors, and create road map for new processes based on sound testing and demonstrated feasibility
- Evaluate and integrate automation (simple to complex) equipment for material handling
- Investigate potential new laser cutting and welding technologies, collaborate with applications/outside labs for proof of concept
- Continue ongoing efforts for CAM related improvements for laser cutting of tubes, sheet, and flat materials
- Support and provide equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements and automation
- Process development and implementation for applications such as laser cutting, welding, scribing, marking and any other micromachining
- Includes laser cutting and welding process development, including programming, motion system tuning, optimization, parameter development, troubleshooting
- Follow health, safety and environmental programs for preventative maintenance – adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all hazards are properly managed.
- Develop strategic processing goals and objectives and integrate processes into value streams.
How much should you know?
- BS degree in a relevant discipline and 7-8 or more years of related engineering experience. Or:
- MS degree and 5 or more years of related engineering experience.
- Ph. D degree in science/engineering field and 3 or more years of related engineering experience
You will have an edge if you . . .
- Have extensive laser and tool integration experience.
- Have solid background in SolidWorks/CAD design.
- Have significant engineering expertise relating to fixture design for laser cutting/welding.
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Possess good English communication skills – both written and oral.
- Experience with laser scanning systems (galvo and polygon)
- Experience with robotic motion programming (Denso preferred)
- Experience with vision systems and programming
- Experience programming multi-axis motion systems
