Job Description Summary

The Commercial Controller is responsible for leading Equipment/Service sales related Commercial Controllership processes in Korea including PDx business. He/She will provide technical guidance to the Commercial Leadership of the business on commercial deal structure and retain a strong focus on successful customer outcomes with unyielding integrity. In this role, he/she will partner with business leaders to have full understanding of business operations. He/She will need to anticipate issues and suggest alternatives that mitigate financial & reporting risks on complex business transactions and key business strategic initiatives. In doing so, he/she will ensure revenue compliance with global accounting policies, regulations and procedures. He/She will also lead initiatives to improve commercial processes.

Roles and Responsibilities (but are not limited to):

  • Support business growth through proactive engagement in commercial discussion, provision of clear technical and operational guidance as well as alternative creative solutions
  • Oversee the commercial contracting process for Equipment and Service sales by working closely with Legal and AKA Commercial Controllership to capture/minimize any potential accounting as well as operational & financial risks
  • Lead simplification initiatives to increase efficiency around commercial process such as revenue recognition.
  • Ensure robust commercial balance management to achieve materially accurate financial statements
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place for revenue-related processes, in line with statutory laws, local accounting standards and US GAAP, and critically examine potential issues where financial risks & opportunities may be drawn out
  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are established for operational and transactional processes impacting the financial statements, including closing, reporting and financial analysis

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or other business related fields and 7+ years accounting or finance experience in multinational business / experience in Healthcare industry/similar Industrial sector is highly valued
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP, authoritative accounting literature (i.e. FASB pronouncements) and local TAX.
  • Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex accounting information in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing (Korea and English)
  • Clear thinking/problem solving:  successfully lead projects/process improvements working with commercial/operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas
  • Solid PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects, SFDC, etc.), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, VLookup, and Macros)
  • Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others

  • AI fluency with practical application in finance, analytics, and process improvement
