Northrop Grumman Mission Systems’ Networked Information Solutions (NIS) Division has an immediate opening for a Senior Director of Strategy and Mission Solutions (SMS).   This position will report to the Vice President and General Manager of NIS and be located in one of our major NIS locations (San Diego, Baltimore, Annapolis Junction, Fairfax, Chantilly, Cincinnati, Tampa, San Antonio, McClellan or San Jose).  Will consider candidates located at another Northrop Grumman facility with proper SCIF/SAPF accessibility to conduct NIS work.

This position is a leadership role within the NIS Division that is responsible for the Division’s strategy, business development, customer and strategic partner engagements, and pipeline growth. The selected individual will collaborate with the Business Units to develop and execute the Division strategy, manage the Division investment portfolio and identify investment priorities, lead key captures, identify and establish strategic partnerships, and interface with the Sector Strategic Growth team on sector level priorities. 

The position will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading a team of strategy, business development, capture and mission engineering professionals, focused on talent development, growth, and engagement of team members
  • Develop long-range objectives and strategic plans for the division. This includes facilitating the strategic planning cycle for the Division, supporting corporate and sector strategic planning initiatives, and leading market analysis for technology and market position assessments.
  • Understanding our customers’ mission needs and translating customer needs into specific requirements and capture strategies that drive profitable business growth
  • Identifying, coordinating and tailoring innovative company solutions across divisions and Sectors into offerings
  • Providing observations, insights and analysis of trends and opportunities in the form of written reports and presentations
  • Creating and executing customer engagement plans
  • Serving as point of contact for government and customer organizations
  • Supporting annual and long-range strategic and financial planning; Managing and prioritizing the Division investment portfolio to drive desired business outcomes
  • Rigorously managing the pipeline to support profitable business growth strategy and outcomes
  • Supporting responses to customer Requests for Information (RFI) and leading/supporting capture efforts in support of customer Requests for Proposal (RFP)
  • Engaging effectively across all levels and ranks of our government and industry partner organizations
  • Coordinating with P&L leads to align strategic direction and customer needs
  • Working closely with business execution team to ensure a clear, coordinated customer message
  • Building coalitions across matrixed organizations to drive results
  • Defining and understanding the warfighter’s hardest problems and interfacing with technical and business management teams to drive impactful solutions
  • Solving complex problems by analyzing broad variables to include market drivers, business impact, and technological feasibility
  • Developing business case analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of related experience; OR 8 or more years with a Master’s; alternatively, equivalent military or business and program experience in lieu of formal business development experience accepted
  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic, strategic and inspirational thinking with respect to customer needs, competitive positioning, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams
  • Ability to think and execute tactically and strategically - deliver near term results while focusing on long term solutions and positioning
  • Strong interpersonal skills that ensure collaborative and trusting relationships with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership and technical experts
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations
  • Knowledge of DoD requirements, programming, budgeting, and acquisition processes 
  • U.S. Citizenship and a minimum of an active DoD SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI; OR DoE equivalent with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current TS/SCI clearance
  • P&L experience either as a program manager or Operating Unit director
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, to identify and qualify new program opportunities, and to develop and implement creative approaches for executing early phase program activities
  • Thorough knowledge of government procurement and business development processes; experience in business development success across the phases of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP)

Salary Range: $235,000.00 - $387,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
