JOB SCOPE & PURPOSE
The Group Account Director (GAD) is responsible for providing the overall development of assigned clients’ businesses through the selling of effective marketing strategies and application of marketing knowledge. He/she is responsible for both the client and agency strategy for a significant portion of business, building strong ongoing relationships with the client, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction, and providing profitable results to Targetbase.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and facilitates the strategy on the account, teaming with other competencies (Strategy, Creative, SBA, and Technology), as appropriate
- Generates ideas and proposes effective solutions; translates ideas into actionable plans that address relevant client or Targetbase business issues
- Provides key knowledge regarding strategy, customer segmentation, communications development and analytics, and pricing and estimating of interactive work to drive client business
- Actively participates in internal initiatives that support Targetbase’s growth and internal goals
- Achieves sales and profitability goals with leadership team on assigned accounts; ensures the overall account plan is developed, recommended for approval to senior management, and implemented in a timely manner; proactively pursues business opportunities per account plan; accountable for presentation content and materials; demonstrates an ability to convey an understanding of the client’s situation and need and effectively communicate solutions; partners in the selling process for potential new clients as requested
- Hires, interviews, coaches, evaluates, and develops account team members; provides leadership in effective team management by providing timely, relevant feedback on team member performance
- Delivers sound consulting, business advice, and rationale to clients in order for them to profitably grow their businesses; achieves this through knowledge of the clients’ industries and needs, services offered by Targetbase, and applying superior knowledge in marketing strategy and design
- Functions as a trusted advisor to the client; continuously educates self on clients’ businesses and issues; spearheads Account Learning Plan development and implementation; effectively builds one-on-one client relationships; understands individual client business objectives and professional goals; demonstrates active interest and supports achievement of these objectives and goals; brings this knowledge to the collective account team to ensure maximized client satisfaction
- Accountable, with the Creative Director, for the creative concept and strategy presented to clients; partners closely with the strategist to develop overall communication strategy – may author or provide input to the strategist, to develop the creative work plan and ensure it is strategically correct prior to commencement of work; leads presentation of creative strategy to client; demonstrates an overall understanding of the creative process, evaluation of creative deliverables, and the cost components
- Accountable, with the Technology Engagement Manager, for creating the business case and developing the strategic recommendation for building and utilizing database solutions; ensures strategic issues and implications have been addressed and the proposed solution delivers the appropriate return on investment; presents and/or supports findings and conclusions to management and client; demonstrates an overall understanding of the role of technology in strategic solutions, technology deliverables, and their cost components
- Partners with SBA (analytics) on client marketing objectives and analysis needs; facilitates and guides database analyses that support improved customer insight and formulation of strategic decisions and recommendations; ensures strategic issues and implications have been addressed and the proposed solutions deliver the appropriate return on investment; presents and/or supports findings and conclusions to management and client; demonstrates an overall understanding of SBA products, services, and their strategic application
- Understands all benefits and expenses of proposed strategies and recommends budget commensurate with scope and requirements of the client; responsible for “selling” the amount of expense required to clients and assisting clients in selling recommendations to their management; sets Targetbase pricing in line with overall account strategy and profitability goals; approves client budgeting and periodic Targetbase revenue projections

Understands the work performed for the client by each competency. Knows available Targetbase resources. Schedules resources when above current requirement.
REQUIRED SKILLS
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- 10+ years of digital and/or omnichannel campaign experience; marketing/digital agency environment
- Enthusiasm for consumer marketing and understanding of customer journey principals
- Solid understanding of relational database technology and CRM principles/applications
- Exposure to pharma OR high-science healthcare highly preferred (ex: Oncology, Autoimmune, and/or Respiratory therapeutic areas) highly preferred
- Client-facing experience with ability to effectively manage expectations
- Proven track record of effectively leading marketing projects and collaborating with cross functional teams including creative, strategy and analytics
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY
- Demonstrated strategic thinker with ability to lead a business
- Professional, clear, confident communication abilities (verbal and written) with all levels of client and internal organizations
- Experience designing and delivering presentations to senior leaders
- Excellent problem-solving skills; able to think and act on his/her feet
- Comprehensive understanding of the latest trends in the interactive industry including: email, web development, and all-line analytics; knowledge of managing, developing, and launching interactive initiatives
- Able to build effective and long-lasting relationships
- Prior experience managing direct reports and motivating cross functional team members
- Proven desire to take initiative and partner with internal/external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of CRM principles and applications
- Able to keep composure in high-stress situations and diplomatically manage multiple competing priorities
- Superior organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
- Able to quickly learn and apply new ideas

We work a hybrid schedule - 3 days in office and 2 days working from home. Candidates must local to the Raleigh area and willing to be onsite in the office 3 days each week.
