What We Offer
Compensation – We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation programs. We offer a competitive hourly rate based on education level and qualifications, as follows:
Undergraduate students: $25.00/hour
Graduate students: $29.00/hour
Ph.D./JD students: $37.00/hour
Hybrid work option – Staff will be assigned to one of our offices, including: Washington, DC (Headquarters); Ashburn, VA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX office or location. Staff can choose to live and work from anywhere within the United States but will be required to commute to their assigned office or location for occasional intentional gatherings or meetings at the frequency required by their supervisor. Travel to an assigned office or location for commuting purposes will not be considered reimbursable business travel, unless otherwise required by state law. Role Summary
The PCAOB is seeking a Funding Operations intern for the Spring 2025 cohort. As an intern in the Funding Operations team, you will have the opportunity to work with several departments within the PCAOB on a variety of research topics, gain a profound understanding of the PCAOB’s sources of funding, learn about the various functions of a Finance department and the PCAOB, and be a key point of contact for the PCAOB in dealing with external parties. Our internship program provides you with hands-on work experience, allowing you to develop a deeper understanding of SEC EDGAR filings, data providers, and financial markets, while developing your problem-solving and analytical skillsets. The Intern will have the opportunity to utilize and develop financial accounting and Sox skills. The Intern will gain experience working within the COSO framework and be involved in critical team activities that may include participating in selected process walkthroughs, risk identification and assessment, controls design and optimization, process flow mapping, learning ICFR testing methodology and the testing of assigned controls. Our internship program provides hands-on work experience, allowing you to grow your skills and gain experience.
Responsibilities
Identify and compile information to assist with the PCAOB’s issuer ASF invoicing process.
Obtain an understanding of business rules and their proper application for assessment and collection of the fees.
Analyze company information using internal data and publicly available sources and document research findings.
Respond to daily correspondence from entities, ensuring that responses are handled in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide support in organizing ICFR documentation within SharePoint, the ICFR Governance portal and preparation for testing process within these tools.
Contact invoiced entities regarding any billing or payment issues.
Handle inquiries from various levels of contacts.
Capture all relevant information regarding external parties in the funding correspondence database.
Update, create, or maintain necessary funding documentation.
Handle other projects on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
Current academic enrollment at the undergraduate (junior or above) or graduate level, pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or business.
Prior exposure to any analytics software (e.g., SAS, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
Basic knowledge of internal controls and SOX, audit techniques and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio, or similar chart flow applications.
Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to learn quickly.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and prioritize.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and be self-motivated.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications.
