The Opportunity  
       

The Senior Actuary Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the actuarial team within the Finance and Actuarial department, reporting directly to the CFO for one of our business units. This position involves overseeing the business unit’s actuarial valuations under both US GAAP and IFRS standards, as well as managing capital calculations in line with RBNZ ISS and Bermudian requirements. The successful candidate will ensure the team delivers comprehensive actuarial services, including pricing, bonus setting, and experience investigations, while maintaining robust relationships with key stakeholders such as the CFO and Appointed Actuary, and liaising with Resolution Life Australasia as needed.
 

Key responsibilities include directing the monthly and quarterly valuation and capital processes, conducting detailed reviews and analyses of results, and ensuring compliance with regulatory returns. The Senior Actuary Manager will oversee all actuarial team activities, engage with stakeholders to implement efficient methodologies, and contribute to broader financial and actuarial outcomes. Additionally, this role supports the integration of financial and actuarial systems, ensuring clear communication of complex matters to senior non-actuarial audiences and influencing decision-making at all levels.
 

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in producing actuarial results on multiple bases, including IFRS-17 and US GAAP, and demonstrate a deep understanding of the NZ Interim Solvency Standard. They must excel in managing time and priorities in a fast-paced environment, adapting strategies as needed to achieve optimal outcomes. Strong leadership skills, the ability to drive organizational results through cross-functional expertise, and a thorough knowledge of best practices in financial management are essential for success in this role

Ideal Experience

  • Production of actuarial results on multiple bases (IFRS-17 / US GAAP), including end-to-end Actuarial processes.

  • Excellent knowledge of the NZ Interim Solvency Standard

  • Ability to work and manage your time in a fast-paced environment – changing focus and / or your strategy for delivery as required.

  • Skilled in actuarial or finance system change
