Introduction

The Cost Engineer is responsible for creating transparency in product and manufacturing costs and driving Cost of Goods (CoG) improvements across ASML's supply chain. The role combines engineering knowledge, manufacturing expertise, and cost modeling capabilities to support sourcing, engineering, and supplier decision-making.

The Cost Engineer is part of ASML's global Cost Engineering competence and the Asia Cost of Goods (CoG) team, collaborating with Business Lines, Development & Engineering, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, and suppliers in the Asia region. The role supports a broad range of technologies including Precision Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electronics, PCBA, Cable Assemblies, Optics, Ceramics, and other high-precision manufacturing domains.

Job Mission

  • Drive Cost of Goods (CoG) improvement through product cost modeling, manufacturing process analysis, Design-to-Cost activities, and supplier collaboration.
  • Provide fact-based manufacturing and cost insights to support Development & Engineering, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Business Lines, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development of ASML's global Cost Engineering competence while supporting Cost of Goods initiatives within the Asia region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain product cost calculations and cost models.
  • Analyze product cost drivers, manufacturing processes, and business uplifts.
  • Support Design-to-Cost activities by providing manufacturability and cost insights during product development.
  • Define and assess manufacturing process flows for parts, assemblies, and modules.
  • Support supplier selection, supplier workshops, and sourcing negotiations through engineering-based cost analysis.
  • Validate supplier quotations and manufacturing assumptions.
  • Identify, quantify, and drive cost reduction opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Build and maintain manufacturing knowledge, cost databases, and benchmarking information.
  • Collaborate closely with Development & Engineering, Supplier Account Leads (SALs), Group Supplier Managers (GSMs), Supply Chain Engineering, Quality, and suppliers.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, supplier engineering, cost engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product structures, and cost drivers.
  • Experience working with engineering, sourcing, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Experience developing product cost calculations, should-cost models, or manufacturing cost assessments is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-tech, semiconductor, precision manufacturing, optics, electronics, or capital equipment environment is preferred.
  • Experience in one or more manufacturing domains such as precision mechanics, electronics, PCBA, optics, ceramics, and advanced materials. Understanding of manufacturing processes, product cost drivers, and supplier capabilities is preferred.

The individual continuously develops expertise across multiple manufacturing technologies and contributes to strengthening both ASML's global Cost Engineering competence and the Asia Cost of Goods community.

Other Information

This role requires regular collaboration with local and international stakeholders, including Cluster GSMs, Cluster Sourcing Leads, and key Cost of Goods stakeholders. Occasional business travel may be expected depending on project scope, supplier engagement, and stakeholder location.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
