The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Project Officer. The successful candidate will join a newly established, interdisciplinary research laboratory focused on developing non-invasive strategies to control gene expression and cellular behaviour.

The Project Officer will actively perform experiments to support ongoing research projects while managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. The role also includes supporting laboratory operations through procurement coordination and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and institutional policies.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform laboratory experiments to support ongoing research projects

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including maintenance of equipment, inventory management, and ordering of consumables

  • Coordinate procurement processes

  • Ensure laboratory safety and compliance

  • Assist researchers and students with experimental protocols, troubleshooting, and technical guidance as required

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory practices, chemical and biological safety, and standard operating procedures

  • Hands-on experience in a research or teaching laboratory environment is preferred

  • Proficiency in laboratory record-keeping, procurement systems, and basic data organization

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple researchers

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with vendors, safety officers, and lab users
