SUMMARY

The Remote Product Designer is responsible for the category level illustrations and graphic design for product assortments developed for JOANN Stores. The Remote Product Designer is proficient in a wide variety of techniques, materials, and art styles. Skill set requires a strong drafting, product design, and typographic skills to produce original seasonal and everyday exclusive prints, patterns, and designs for JOANN Stores. The Remote Product Designer supports the on-site Product Designers in product development and design at JOANN.

JOB DUTIES

• Create and curate art assets for development of category assignments.

• Meet with Product Development Manager and Designers to work through project plan and design refinement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic/Illustration Design, Fine Arts, or Industrial Design

Experience Minimum: 2+ years of experience in product design, graphic design or related creative role

Experience Preferred: Experience applying own work to a product. Strong portfolio preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role is fully remote and will not require in person attendance at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH.
• Occasional travel to the Store Support Center may be necessary for conferences, training or other work-related events.
• Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
• Ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
• Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
• Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to successfully execute category vision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong creative ability/vision in trend and color
• Ability to complete daily work with limited supervision/self-starter.
• Openness to receive feedback on work and make necessary adjustments to work as needed.
• Proficient in a Macintosh environment
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
• Strong typographical design skills
• Basic understanding of Fabric, Seasonal Décor, Crafting Industry and related product categories
• Ability to research, brainstorm and concept product ideas
• Strong visual, oral, and written communication skills
