About the Role

Registrar Position available:

Clarendon and Hawthorn Community Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences Outpatient Clinics.

The position involves provision of neuropsychology specific interventions for community mental health consumers of SVHM and outpatient neuropsychology services to St Vincent’s Hospital patients, most of whom were discharged from acute and subacute wards, and some linked with outpatient medical clinics.

As a registrar, you will be provided with the opportunity to work across two outpatient settings at Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences. This program is designed to support new psychology graduates with neuropsychology specialisation towards developing competencies and making the transition to practice as an endorsed neuropsychologist on completion of the program.

The position is embedded in clinical settings, working closely with Grade 3 and 4 neuropsychologists. The position will involve outpatient assessments at Adult Community Mental Health Clinics, comprising of multidisciplinary teams, and Clinical Neurosciences Outpatient Clinics, with referrals involving primarily mental health comorbidities. You will be well supported and receive joint neuropsychology supervision from P4 senior neuropsychologists across the two programs, with also opportunity for group supervision. You will also receive support for accessing professional development opportunities, internal and external to both services.

Following the two-year graduate program, you will be supported to apply for ongoing long term employment opportunities within St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.


Classifications for this position will range from Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 to PK4 ($92,627 - $104,811 per annum pro rata)


Your Contribution

  • General registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility to enter a Clinical Neuropsychology registrar program with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology recognized by Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About St Vincent's Mental Health Program
St Vincent’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Service is an area-based mental health service operating in the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.  It includes a range of inpatient, residential and community based programs, providing treatment to adults and older adults who experience acute and complex mental health issues. Multidisciplinary teams provide a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions underpinned by a strong commitment to recovery focused practice and person-centred care.
