Role Summary:
The Deputy General Manager (DGM) – Strategy & Insights will have 3 critical aspects to the role –
• Business Strategy – New Line of business and M&A opportunities through Industry research & financial
modelling/valuations.
• Margin improvement – Project manage by being liaison among Marketing, R&T, Finance and Operations towards EBITDA improvement.
• Drive ROI on Marketing spends.
Candidate Profile:
This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial analysis and business finance, capable of collaborating across various functions. Should have in depth industry knowledge whichever is applicable – Tyres, Building Materials, Plastics, Adhesives, Lubricants etc. Should have experience in Margin/Profit improvement projects and/or working at / with consulting firms who work in M&A, Market Analysis, Business Turnaround projects.
Roles and Responsibility:
1. In-depth Research:
• Conduct comprehensive secondary research by studying competitors’ annual reports, announcements, and new business moves.
• Research industry reports to stay updated on the latest trends in the resin downstream industry and ideate potential new business lines.
2. Business Proposal Evaluation:
• Perform end-to-end evaluation of innovative business proposals, including new
brand/segment introductions and product introductions.
• Build business case studies for the CMSO to evaluate new lines of business or potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
3. Project Management to improve Profitability:
• Drive margin and EBITDA improvement through project management and prodct costomization.
• Collaborate with the R&T and product teams on continuous projects focused on low EBITDA products.
4. Strategic Planning:
• Lead and collaborate on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) agenda for marketing and strategy functions.
• Function as the budget custodian/steward, managing expenditure (direct and indirect), procurement, and administration, ensuring cost control in line with anual plans.
5. Efficiency Improvement:
• Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of trade investments and advertising & promotion (A&P) activities.
