The Fort Hills Engineering team is excited to present a career opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Integrity Engineer. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting.

This position provides immediate technical challenges as well as long-term projects that are in line with Suncor's fundamental business values and goals, emphasizing safety, environmental stewardship, reliability, and financial performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of engineering expertise encompassing design standards, specifications, codes, material selection, corrosion management, welding processes, fabrication methods, inspection techniques, coating systems, and non-metallic materials
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Experience employing ASME Standards BPVC Section IX, BPVC SECTION VIII Div1, B31.1, B31.3, NACE Standards, and API Standards 570, 579, 580, 581, and 653

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integrity program to ensure short- and long-term performance and integrity of the piping, tanks, and vessels for Fort Hills
  • Support in the generation or updating of corrosion control programs, equipment strategies, and Risk Based Inspection programs
  • Work with subject matter experts to assess viability of current and innovative technologies (i.e. weld procedures, materials designs)
  • Develop and optimize detailed inspection plans for execution
  • Support in rationalizing future spend activities, preparations for outages and shutdowns, and input into planning processes

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with travel to our Fort Hills site as required
