Nidec Aerospace is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer that will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for aerospace electrical motors. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that processes guarantee personnel safety, meet rigorous aerospace standards, improve production efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
The individual is responsible for:
Process Design and Improvement:
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for electrical motors, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards.
Procure manufacturing machinery and equipment, either by purchasing or by coordinating design an integration that meet safety standards and that are able to meet product requirements with.
Analyze and improve production workflows, equipment, and tooling to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Project Management:
Lead and support engineering projects from conception through production, including process development, equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
Coordinate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new motor designs and modifications.
Quality Assurance:
Establish and monitor quality control measures to ensure products meet aerospace quality standards and specifications.
Support quality department on investigating and resolving quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
Technical Support:
Provide technical support and training to production staff to ensure proper operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
Documentation and Reporting:
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process instructions, work instructions, and process control plans.
Prepare and present reports on process performance, project status, and improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to address manufacturing challenges and inefficiencies.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies in all manufacturing processes.
Promote a culture of safety and adhere to best practices in all engineering and manufacturing activities.
Technical Attributes and Experience
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment used in electrical motor production.
Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and other engineering tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and improve complex processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality standards.
Proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Innovative thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace or a related high-tech industry.
Hands-on experience with electrical motor manufacturing processes, including assembly, testing, and quality control.
