Job Summary:

Semtech Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist with a minimum of 2–3 years of experience to join our Human Resources team. The Benefits Specialist will report to the Global Benefits Manager and will be responsible for administering employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing exceptional support to employees regarding their benefits inquiries and issues.

Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration (40%):

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, retirement plans, etc.).

  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.

  • Conduct new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.

Employee Support (20%):

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits-related questions and issues.

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.

  • Provide guidance and support on benefits claims and resolution of issues with providers.

Compliance and Reporting (5%):

  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.

  • Prepare and distribute written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs, including insurance and retirement plans.

  • Maintain and update benefits-related documentation, such as summary plan descriptions and benefits policies.

Vendor Management (15%):

  • Liaise with external vendors and providers to resolve employee issues and enhance benefits offerings.

  • Evaluate and compare existing benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.

  • Recommend benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.

  • Reconcile monthly vendor invoices to ensure accurate billing for benefits provided.

  • Identify discrepancies and work with vendors to resolve billing issues.

  • Ensure timely payment of benefits-related invoices.

Open Enrollment (5%):

  • Plan and execute the annual benefits open enrollment process, including communication strategies, materials, and employee meetings.

  • Analyze and report on enrollment data and trends to inform future benefit planning.

Employee Education (5%):

  • Conduct benefits training sessions and workshops for employees.

  • Develop and maintain benefits communications materials, including newsletters, intranet postings, and email announcements.

Global Benefits Partnership (10%):

  • Support and partner with the Global Benefits Manager to implement and manage global benefits strategies and programs.

  • Assist in the coordination and administration of international benefits plans.

  • Collaborate on global benefit projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with corporate goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in benefits administration or a related role.

  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs and regulations (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA).

  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration software.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including V-Look Up and Pivots), Word and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused attitude.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in benefits or human resources (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $72,000-80,000.  There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
