Job Title:          Finance Trainee

Location:        London, United Kingdom

Reports To:    Financial Controller

Job Purpose:

The Finance team have a critical role to play at ClarusONE, providing both insights and analysis that help us understand business performance as well as ensuring that we have strong Financial Controls in place and that our Statutory Reporting is produced in line with accounting standards.

As a Finance Apprentice at ClarusONE, you have the opportunity to work across both the Controllership and FP&A functions, getting broad experience that will allow you to grow into a well-rounded Finance Professional with an accounting qualification.

With this in mind, you will spend 18 months with ClarusONE Controllership, learning how we maintain our General Ledger, technical aspects of accounting for the Joint Venture, how we maintain and monitor strong Financial Controls for the business and how we ensure that we account as per the terms in our Legal Agreements.

Your second 18 months as an apprentice will be spent with FP&A, learning how value is tracked for our members, how we pull together budgets, forecasts, how we report to leadership, members and peers to ensure that drivers of value are understood.  You will be closely connected to the ClarusONE Analytics team, using their insights to better tell the story behind performance. 

Responsibilities:

Controllership:

• Assist with the Controllership team with month end close.  Focusing on accurate transactional reporting and ensuring accounting treatment in line with reporting standards.
• Supporting the OPEX budget preparation and monthly variance reporting, including management pack with commentary.
• Supporting the review of the annual CAPEX spend, ensuring within budget, in line with accounting standards and supporting any compliance requirements.
• Support the operational finance activities including accounts receivable, travel & expenses and accounts payable ensuring accurate reporting in within budget.
• Assist revenue reporting in line with accounting standards.
• Support balance sheet preparation within SOX requirements.
• Support the year end audit and preparation of the annual financial statements for our reporting entities.
• Support the Controllership team to deliver in line with KPIs and maintain high standards.

FP&A:

• Assist in the preparation of the FP&A monthly close, focussing on value generation on behalf of both Members, analysing variance to plan & forecast, providing detailed explanations for variances.
• Assist in improving and automating the current FP&A reporting and any new reporting that becomes useful as the business evolves
• Business partner the sourcing execution team to produce internal reporting on the success of sourcing events
• Prepare monthly presentations for the wider ClarusONE business to help them understand performance
• Support the FP&A Senior Manager on evolving planning methods for the ClarusONE
• Support the FP&A Senior Manager on planning timetables for both members and our internal leadership
• Support the FP&A Senior Manager on evolving the rolling forecast models
• Continue to drive new metrics and KPIs to measure ClarusONE success, both through our more traditional measures as well as at a broader Enterprise level

Requirements:

Education/Experience

• School leaver with strong A Levels or Degree level qualification
• Excel & PowerPoint skills
• The successful candidate must be willing to study for CIMA qualification with the aim to become qualified.  ClarusONE will sponsor the candidate through this process and the apprenticeship programme.
