New England Biolabs (NEB) is inviting applicants for the position of Production Scientist. Reporting to the Group leader and in close collaboration with the members of the Competent Cells team, the individual in this position will be primarily responsible for supporting the manufacturing, quality control of the Competent Cell and media products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manufacture E. coli competent cells and related reagents.
Perform product-specific quality control (QC) protocols.
Adhere to protocols and maintain proper documentation.
Lead in troubleshooting product-related issues and participate in root cause analyses.
Assist in coordinating product manufacturing to meet the forecasted demand schedule.
Assist in supervising and mentoring other team members in designing, executing and analyzing experiments, troubleshooting issues, and preparing reports and presentations.
Fulfill OEM/Bulk custom orders and collaborate with Customized Solutions team members to support new custom opportunities.
Assist in streamlining processes to increase efficiency and capacity and maintain quality consistency in product manufacturing.
Gain expertise and assist customers with technical inquiries about E. coli strains and competent cells.
Work in collaboration with the Group Leader and members of the R&D departments to develop new products for commercialization.
Qualifications/ Experience:
Advanced degree in Microbiology or related discipline with hands-on experience in bacterial strain development and/or manufacturing.
Experience in the life science industry preferred.
Knowledge of E. coli or other bacterial strains biochemistry.
Experience in standard molecular biology techniques and sterile work practices.
Ability to work flexible hours as required by the manufacturing schedule.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Experience working in an ERP system (i.e. SAP) preferred.
Recognized as a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure with high attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, including good lab notebook practices.
Proven “good hands” at the bench and an ability to perform careful and consistent experiments.
