Job Description:

The Senior Wealth Lending Advisor is responsible for business development and relationship management on behalf of TD Bank with regards to Registered Investment Advisor firms [RIAs], independent advisors and end consumers within affiliate channels, including TD Ameritrade Institutional and Retail [consumer only] platforms. The Senior Wealth Lending Advisor is at the center of the TD Wealth Private Banking model in affiliate channels providing business development, wholesaling, direct net asset growth [NAG] and day-to-day account management of RIA firms, advisors and their clients. The Senior Wealth Lending Advisor is a high-touch point of RIA, advisor and client contact, wholesales and distributes complex custom Private Banking solutions [principally securities-based lending] to Registered Investment Advisors in the TDA Institutional Network and is responsible for growing and retaining RIA Firm, Advisor and client relationships. In the TD Ameritrade Retail channel, the Senior Wealth Lending Advisor partners with TD Ameritrade Investment Consultants in a direct distribution model to advise and service the unique and complex lending needs of Wealth qualified TD Ameritrade Retail clients. The Senior Wealth Lending Advisor supports a national model with coverage in/out-of-footprint and provides regional coverage for a multi-state geography. As the senior most lending sales officer, the Senior Wealth Lending Advisor supports new products as they are introduced and will be called upon to assist in complex transactions across other Wealth distribution channels.

  • Serves as the expert in Securities Based Lending (Reg U) across all Wealth lending channels including TDPCW and TD Ameritrade Platforms. Senior Lending Advisor for Reg T Lending on the TDPCW platform
  • Responsible for Recommendations of margin vs. SBL
  • Assists with complex Private Client Wealth deal structuring
  • Trains and on-boards new WLAs
  • Practice Management and holistic solution sales techniques
  • Subject matter expert for digital Securities Based Lending across all custodians
  • Responsible for business development across an assigned region of multiple states covering TDA sales representatives, RIAs, TDA Investment Consultants and end clients
  • Responsible for assigned goals in new loan originations on an annual basis
  • Acts as subject matter expert on custom lending: Presenting to RIAs, presenting to internal TDA sale representatives, educating end clients on the variety of uses for the product including but not limited to: estate planning, life purchases, tax planning, business investment, real estate purchases, RIA practice management and client acquisition
  • Exercises judgment on structure of loans and offers or negotiates terms of custom loans for compensation or gain
  • Demonstrates a commitment to being customer-centric by ensuring legendary service is provided during every customer interaction to maximize retention and growth
  • Ensures all NEW clients receive the complete on-boarding experience, which includes a thorough client discovery leading to a truly exceptional experience and completion of all requisite client profiling documents
  • May work with more complex clients
  • Executes in a manner that is compliant with regulations, policies and procedures
  • Adheres to all federal, state, SRO regulations and Firm policies related to all business activities (e.g. OCC, SEC, FINRA etc.)
  • Ensures all Continuing Education requirements are attained.
  • Understands and adheres to TD Wealth AML/ATF Policies and Procedures
  • Implements TD's Customer Identification Program (CIP) by collecting and verifying required customer identification information, and performing other Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence Requirements as outlined in the Business Unit AML procedures
  • Responsible for fostering and contributing to a positive and constructive work environment with a focus on supporting the overall Wealth team
  • Represents TD Wealth to the general-public in a professional manner
  • Be involved in the community and support TDBG charity and community initiatives
  • May lead activities of unit, assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work
  • Provides direction and answers questions as needed
  • Provides technical guidance and assists staff with most complex aspects of work as necessary

Education & Experience:

  • 4-year degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10 + years financial services experience in a production capacity (i.e. track record for meeting sales goals) required
  • Strong credit and financial analysis skills; formal credit training preferred
  • Proven business development track record
  • Ability to deliver content, training in a variety of settings: In person, over the phone, conferences.
  • Securities Licensed: Series 7, 63 + 65 or 66 preferred
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP), preferred.
  • Strong understanding of private banking business development techniques, products, services and overall industry
  • Advanced understanding and experience interacting with high-net worth clients
  • Consultative sales experience required
  • Proven ability to establish relationships and partner effectively with other departments within TD Bank, Americas Most Convenient Bank
  • High level of personalized customer service skills, including ability to work with wide variety of clients and provide an exceptional level of service
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, as well as part of a team - working well with other team members and keeping all relevant individuals, including management, up to date in a timely manner
  • Ability to work within an organization to influence and get things done without direct authority
  • Organized self-starter with ability to work independently with little direct guidance
  • Refined negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Membership in civic and professional organizations required upon on-boarding
  • Must have experience working within a highly collaborative team environment

  • This position falls within the definition of Loan Originator as defined under Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act, 12 CFR Part 1026.36; and the definition of Mortgage Loan Originator as defined under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act), 12 U.S.C. §§ 5102 et seq., and its implementing regulations, 12 CFR Part 1007; and is with a FINRA member, broker or dealer and is subject to the requirements of FINRA and Securities Laws.  May (or may not) be a registered position under FINRA
  • Must be eligible for employment with a covered financial institution under the standards established by Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act, 12 CFR Part 1026.36
  • Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry) in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act), 12 U.S.C. §§ 5102 et seq., and its implementing regulations, 12 CFR Part 1007
  • Must be eligible for employment under standards established by FINRA.  Subject to the investigation and verification requirements of FINRA Rule 3110(e), including:  the Firm's obligation to investigate the good character, business reputation, qualifications and experience of an applicant for registration before applying to register the applicant with FINRA and filing the applicant's Form U4 with the CRD, and before representing on the applicant's Form U4 that it has conducted this investigation and verified the accuracy and completeness of the information contained in the applicant's Form U4; and the Firm's obligation to verify the accuracy and completeness of the information contained on the applicant’s Form U4, no later than 30 calendar days after the Form U4 is filed with FINRA
  • Satisfactory results on a criminal background check, credit report check, civil litigation search, and regulatory agency or self-regulatory organization enforcement action search, and statements/certification from job applicant regarding administrative, civil, or criminal findings by any government agency/authority or self-regulatory organization, are required by federal law for this position
