Job Description
We are seeking an intern to support our Essential Oil Science Lab. This role is ideal for a current student or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in essential oil chemistry, natural products research, analytical testing, and laboratory operations. The intern will assist with sample handling, routine lab work, data management, literature review, and general research support under supervision. This position offers practical exposure to scientific processes, instrumentation, and quality evaluation within a professional lab setting.
Job Responsibilities
Assist with receiving, labeling, and organizing samples
Prepare samples for analysis, including weighing, dilution, pipetting, and documentation
Support routine laboratory operations while following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Assist with GC-MS and other analytical workflows as trained
Maintain accurate records in lab notebooks, spreadsheets, and databases
Organize chromatograms, analytical results, and reference materials
Conduct literature searches related to essential oils, natural products, and adulteration
Support preparation of technical summaries, reports, and presentations
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the laboratory
Track and manage inventory of lab supplies, solvents, and standards
Job Qualifications:
Current student or recent graduate in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, natural products, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field
Strong interest in essential oils, botanicals, and laboratory science
Basic understanding of chemistry lab practices
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to follow instructions and work responsibly in a lab environment
Basic computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, data entry)
Previous lab coursework or hands-on bench experience
Familiarity with chromatography or analytical instrumentation
Interest in essential oil authenticity, adulteration, and quality testing
Ability to read and interpret scientific literature
Ability to stand for extended periods in a laboratory setting
Ability to safely handle glassware, chemicals, and samples
Ability to lift light lab materials and supplies
