POSITION: Welder / Distribution Fitter

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION: CNG - CT – East Hartford

HOURLY RATE RANGE: $48.48 - $56.61

Job Summary

Provides welding services in various capacities. May include field and shop work as well as repair work as needed. May be called upon to assist Distribution crews as necessary when not welding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties of a Distribution Fitter, as required.
  • Makes welded joints of good quality from any position
  • Weld on high pressure pipelines
  • Accurately calculate and fabricate offsets, regulator vault piping and various other types of piping installations and repairs or any other related welding duties of the Distribution Division as a primary responsibility.
  • Perform welding work for other departments of the Company, as such duties do not interfere with Distribution duties, as required.
  • Perform welding work, related to piping installation and/or repair for Contractors who are working for the Company; when other contract welders are not available and a time limitation exists.
  • Perform all work in accordance with the safety practices of the Company and appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • May involve handling hazardous waste. Training will be provided by the Company to meet the requirements of 40 CFR265.16.

Required Qualifications

  • * Must meet all qualifications and demonstrate an ability to perform all duties of a Welder/Distribution Fitter in a satisfactory manner.
  • * Must meet all qualifications and pass the Company welding qualification requirements as described in the Company Operations and Maintenance, Construction Standards and Welding manual prior to the end of their 6-month probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications

5 Years experience as a pipeline welder

THIS IS A DOT SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION. ANY APPLICANT TRANSFERRING INTO THIS DEPARTMENT FROM A NON-SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN.

Any applicant filling this position will be required to provide after hours and weekend emergency coverage on a rotating basis (on call coverage)
