Job Summary
As a Senior Trust Advisor, you will be an integral part of our trust practice and oversee the administration of trusts, provide trust advice and solutions, analyze trust documents for legal, tax, administrative and investment issues, develop relationships with clients, beneficiaries, and business partners, and serve as an Ambassador of the Vanguard National Trust Company ("VNTC") brand.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage a highly complex book of trust accounts and responsible for the client experience.
Oversee the day-to-day administration of trust accounts by partnering with a Trust Administrator.
Analyze trust documents for legal, tax, administrative and investment issues and coordinate delivery of trust services, advice, and solutions.
Recommend trust and wealth planning advice and solutions to clients that are consistent with VNTC requirements and client objectives. Collaborate with internal business partners to determine client strategy for deepening client relationships.
Partner with Wealth Advisors, Financial Advisors, and Relationship Managers in vetting and pricing new trust business, including developing a full understanding and evaluation of the purpose of the trust, the nature of VNTC’s role, the risks inherent in the trust structure and assets, and the client’s expectations.
Provide recommendations to acceptance committee as to suitability and provide certain committee approvals from time to time.
Perform fiduciary analysis, provide recommendations regarding VNTC’s exercise of discretionary powers, as trustee, and provide approvals from time to time. Conduct required reviews of trust accounts to ensure compliance with the terms of the trust document and all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, and may approve discretionary action requests and trust reviews submitted by Trust Administrator.
Develop relationships with beneficiaries and their advisors to gain insight and knowledge in carrying out the grantor’s purposes and meeting the needs of the beneficiaries.
Address questions raised by clients and their advisors.
Partner with counsel to resolve legal issues.
Partner with Tax Advisors and counsel to resolve tax issues.
Serve as a subject matter expert, sharing expertise and knowledge.
Serve as a mentor to junior team members and business partners, providing guidance and feedback with understanding that regular feedback fosters a culture of development and encourages personal and professional growth.
Promotes professional development by maintaining an in-depth understanding of trust administration, wealth planning techniques and the corporate trust services industry. Stays abreast of significant changes or developments (e.g. taxation, regulatory, legal, and competitive) within the trusts and estates industry. Maintains all required designations and licenses.
Maintains an in-depth understanding of Vanguard’s compliance, regulatory and trust policies and procedures, including a thorough knowledge of the regulatory requirements for Vanguard and its risk appetite.
Continuously identifies process improvement opportunities, along with business solutions.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation required or hold CFP or Juris Doctorate (JD).
Minimum of eight years trust administration and client relationship management experience.
Exceptional client relationship management skills.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Positive attitude with the ability to effectively change and adapt in a continual and rapidly changing environment.
Ability to work independently and as a team member, balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and demonstrate exceptional time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (MBA, JD, CPA, LLM).
Ten years of trust administration and client relationship management experience.
