A thriving economy in space is needed to make life on Earth more vibrant, sustainable, and equitable. Space technology will enable global access to information, solutions to climate change, answers to global food security, products that transform healthcare, clean energy production, and more. Today, rocket launch options are slow, expensive, and unreliable. Stoke is building the world’s most efficient fully and rapidly reusable rocket designed to fly daily that will radically increase access to space and open up the space economy to safeguard our precious home, Earth.

Description

Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space.  Structural analysis is at the heart of making parts, assemblies, and systems last for thousands of uses.  Structural analysts at Stoke work closely with the design, manufacturing, and test teams to continuously integrate and evolve problem constraints, enabling rapid iteration and constant product improvement.  A unique aspect of this position is the opportunity to work on hardware on both the vehicle and engine side of the launch system – from tanks to turbomachinery – and the successful candidate will be energized by this challenge.  As part of a small, well-supported team, you will have access to the resources you need to get the job done right while simultaneously boosting your skills at a pace that can’t be matched in most other roles.  You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Responsibilities

  • Own the analytical design of high-performance hardware, including but not limited to turbomachinery, landing gear, rocket engine nozzles, and lightweight primary structure.
  • Aid in the development of system level structural models of the launch vehicle and engine assemblies.
  • Develop tools and methods to help facilitate rapid product improvement.
  • Plan testing and collect data to validate loads and material allowable assumptions, and use test results to improve analysis models.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the analysis of liquid engine hardware and/or vehicle primary structure
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of solid mechanics including static, dynamic, modal, thermo-mechanical, fracture, and fatigue
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical
  • Programming experience (Python preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize and execute
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lead
  • Ability to follow
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Experience with deriving dynamic loads and environments (e.g., vibration, shock, acoustic) based on both analysis and test data

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance
  • 401(k) match
  • Paid time off
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Equity

Compensation

Target Levels:

  • Level 1: $91,00 - $114,900
