About the Role

The Trade Compliance Specialist, APAC is responsible for all customs-related operations with import, export, and other trade/customs laws, rules, and regulations within APAC region, with a focus on Thailand.

This role serves as the Trade Compliance support for the APAC region for our divisions and brands. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance APAC, you will also create, maintain, and oversee trade operations procedures and requirements to support regional growth from an import/export compliance perspective.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the completion of required import-export, BOI (Thailand), statistical reporting, and legal documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Customs & BOI (Thailand) processes and Customs & BOI (Thailand) authorizations
  • Ensure any trade compliance action or process related to BOI is placed.
  • Ensure proper customs valuation, HS code classification, and determination of the country of origin.
  • Manage the origin solicitation and qualification process including FTA eligibility.
  • Analyze products, components, tooling, equipment, and services to determine classification.
  • Provide support and scenario analysis for procurement and sales to aid business decisions with duty implication information.
  • Manage 3rd party customs broker operations and ensure proper customs instruction processes.
  • Align local risk management frameworks and processes with global ones to address risks.
  • Monitor customs clearance processes and documentation to ensure compliance with trade laws.
  • Advise the business on compliance requirements and related controls.
  • Create, assess, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for customs valuation, HTS classification, and country of origin determination in alignment with Thailand legislation.
  • Identify and drive cost management and duty optimization activities.
  • Identify and integrate best practices standards for the organization based on global cooperation.
  • Build partnerships with third-party customs brokerage firms, government agencies, and trade compliance service providers. Setting regular KPI and performance check with the service provider.
  • Apply for and manage customs rulings and binding tariff information.
  • Prepare and provide KPIs of performance for all activities related to customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin.
  • Prepare and manage professional training for internal and external users on customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin.
  • Actively participates in customs and trade automation projects
  • Experience with AEO application processes

  • Fluent in Thai and have a working knowledge of English and/or Mandarin]
  • Ideally, you live near Bankok. Because this is a hybrid role, commuting to our LaemChabang office will be required each week.
  • Due to the nature of global infrastructure, you understand that flexibility in working hours may sometimes be required.
