Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Home Care

Cleveland Clinic delivers cutting-edge technology throughout Northeast Ohio – right to patients’ doorsteps in-person or virtual instruction. This team helps patients with home oxygen, nebulizers for respiratory treatment, CPAP and BiPAP equipment and training, trach equipment care, and more. Patients don’t have to go anywhere to receive this care, as Cleveland Clinic caregivers bring the respiratory equipment and supplies to them and Registered Respiratory Therapists teach them how to use the equipment safely and effectively. Registered Respiratory Therapists also have the opportunity to specialize in a specific task, such as COPD home assessment and education, CPAP, hospital discharge or road assignment.  
 

A caregiver in this position works 8:30AM – 5:00PM with rotating on-call requirements.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to home care patients with respiratory insufficiencies.  

  • Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.  

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

  • Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.  

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions. 

  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments, and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.  

  • Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. 

  • Ohio Respiratory Care Board licensure.  

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).  

  • Valid state driver’s license (VDL), good driving record, and ability to obtain and maintain eligibility as determined by CCF’s insurance carrier’s requirements to operate foundation vehicles.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Prior experience in critical care. 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit or stand the majority of a work day.
  • Requires full range of motion. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
