We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr. Machine Learning & DevOps Engineer supporting the Mexico IT R&D team in Mexico. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Combining big data and machine learning (ML) to automate IT operations processes, including event correlation, anomaly detection, and causality determination; conducting audits of data processing and ML systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies

  • Researching new ways to improve the performance of machine learning models.

  • Working with other teams in the company to develop and implement new AI-based systems; identifying and solving problems with existing AI models.

  • Implementing and validating predictive models and creating and maintaining statistical models with a focus on big data; implementing best in class Python scripts that facilitate advanced machine learning applications.

  • Manage Deployments in Domino Data Lab and SageMaker; must interface directly with Domino through APIs with python, using SageMaker for managing deployments

  • Use statistical concepts such as regression, time series, mixed model, Bayesian methods, clustering, etc., to analyze data and provide insights when Data Science team needs additional support

  • Adhere to Change management and Release management while doing the releases

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: 40 hours Hybrid

  • Travel: up tp 5% Intl.

  • Relocation: Yes

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and similar platforms

  • Ability to balance between Operational work and Engineering work with agility

  • Proven working experience in a DevOps/SRE culture with observability & monitoring

  • Experience with the following skillsets/technologies a plus:

    • Automation - CI/CD pipelines using Terraform/Ansible/Jenkins/Artifactory/CloudFormation/CDK

    • Containers - Docker/Kubernetes, ECS/EKS/ECR, Helm Charts

    • Serverless - AWS S3, DynamoDB, EFS, Fargate, EFS, Amplify, Cognito, CloudFront, etc.,

    • Programming - Python or Java, Springboot or Micronaut Frameworks, CLI/SDK/CDK with multiple IDE's

    • Extensive knowledge of Git Version Control with branching strategies
