We are looking for applicants in the UK within commutable distance of our Barnard Castle site. As a dynamic, highly motivated Senior Occupational Health Advisor, you will be responsible for delivering a high quality in-house Occupational Health (OH) service to GSK employees across the UK with a clinical background to drive to be the best. You will be a brilliant communicator working collaboratively with your Occupational Health team to meet agreed objectives and targets.

This role will provide YOU with exciting opportunity to deliver a best practice Occupational Health Service, which we are delighted to share has been successfully SEQOHS accredited in June 2023 with a successful annual renewal in June 2024, without any service recommendations.

In this role you will…

  • Collaborate with other members of the UK Occupational Health Service team, the wider EHS team, HR, and other key stakeholders, to deliver strategy, enhance the operation of the function and act as a Subject Matter Expert to the business regarding OH matters.
  • Oversee and manage site/OH function Risk Based Health Surveillance programmes and Health Capability Assessment programmes and share programme compliance data with site stakeholders.
  • Generating clinical and performance data and metrics to demonstrate the quarterly service deliverables, and the value of the OH function to the business, which includes data analysis of health trends to identify and monitor workplace hazards, support business risk mitigation, and improve employee performance and wellbeing.
  • Seek and respond to customer feedback, investigate complaints, and contribute to the improvement of processes and service delivery in response to customer feedback.
  • Support quality and governance framework to ensure delivery of a safe and effective Occupational Health Service by engaging in internal and external audits, maintaining knowledge and skills, and completing mandatory and required training, engaged in projects that support the wider OH strategy within the UK, and globally, as required.
  • Leading and providing an effective case management service for managers and staff. Ownership and management of a clinical case load providing clear decisions and opinions regarding case outcomes. This will include managing cases related to occupational illnesses and injuries, Long-Term Disability (LTD) benefit scheme and Ill Health Retirement (IHR). Providing concise medical reports and summarizing recommendations in accordance with evidence based best practice and aligned to GSK people policies.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Registered Nurse with Post graduate Occupational Health qualification.
  • Recent experience of delivering core OH services with a large, complex, Manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Recent experience of working within a centralised service model with the ability to demonstrate an elevated level of independent decision making.
  • Customer interface - such as training/presenting relevant health data.
  • Auditing clinical performance and service delivery.
  • As the service is paperless there is a need for good IT skills, i.e. proficient in use of Microsoft systems (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, office365 applications etc and previous experience of using OH software systems

Preferred:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Diploma/BSc degree in Occupational Health +/- safety management or related health studies.
  • Previous management experience desirable, but not essential.
