About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Manager, Data Science 2 in San Jose, CA
What you will accomplish: Improve eBay’s execution framework using processes, systems, and data. Partner with eBay’s leaders, product management, analytics, data science, engineering, and design to identify areas of opportunity, size impacts and drive insights into operational plans. Use predictive analytics to inform marketplace level decisions and ensure solutions meet eBay’s stated goals and objectives while accounting for changing market and economic conditions. Create overarching infrastructure and operational strategy to drive measurable impact and scale across eBay’s areas of focus. Ensure that the needs of eBay’s international teams are well represented. Drive strategic insights by applying strategic, operational, and analytical standard processes to secure agreement from multiple partners for long-term solutions, and influence leaders across eBay by building culture, establishing standards, and achieving goals. Analyze and identify opportunities by driving analysis of key problems to identify the next big opportunity to improve customer experience and trust for buyers and sellers on eBay’s platform. Define and monitor metrics by building and developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the trust experience of users on eBay’s platform. Monitor the metrics and understand the root causes behind the metric’s movement. Define business objectives and measure progress in achieving results demonstrating strong commitment towards goals and driving complex projects focused on reducing customer contacts, improving cost, quality, customer experience, and delivering bottom line savings. Partial telecommuting may be permitted from within a commutable distance.
What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Leverage large datasets (querying using SQL or other, similar language) to help shape product and business decisions (3 years)
2. Data analysis/modeling and statistical programming via Python and/or R (3 years)
3. Use of descriptive analytics to develop, maintain, and automate data analysis and data visualization (i.e. Tableau) (3 years)
4. Statistical Modelling / Machine Learning (3 years)
5. Product Experimentation: A/B testing/hypothesis testing (3 years)
6. Database management (ETL processing) (3 years)
7. Defining Key Product Indicators (KPIs) (3 years)
Salary: $211,536.00-262,900.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
