Job Title:                        Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer

Position Overview:

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is a key member of Insulet Corporation’s Legal Department, leading the global Compliance function to ensure compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and seasoned leader with experience in successfully overseeing broad-based compliance programs.  As the compliance leader and subject matter expert, the CCO will work in our fast-paced, high-performance environment to:

  • Foster a strong culture of ethics and compliance company-wide
  • Oversee the strategic design, implementation, operation and review of an effective ethics and compliance program
  • Serve as trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors while maintaining independence
  • Provide reasonable assurance to senior management and the Board that there are effective and efficient policies and procedures in place, well understood and respected by all employees, and that the company is complying with all regulatory and legal requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior leadership to understand the global needs and strategic objectives of the company in order to provide high-quality, pragmatic and focused compliance advice
  • Oversee day-to-day compliance activities, which include: advising the business, reviewing routine proposals and requests, implementing a third party risk management program for compliance, training, incident management, monitoring the compliance hotline, conducting investigations
  • Develop and institute appropriate compliance programs and policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Promote prevention, a proactive mindset and a speak-up culture; communicate a compliance vision for the company and maintain an effective compliance communication program
  • Drive the implementation of a proactive, strategic, and modern training program throughout the organization aimed at impacting behavior and driving ownership of business ethics and compliance by all employees
  • Oversee compliance with health care laws and regulations globally, and the establishment and implementation of relevant standards and policies, including the drafting, revising/updating, and implementing of all healthcare and corporate legal and ethics compliance policies
  • Participate in the development of corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of, and keep abreast of developments in, relevant healthcare laws and regulations, including tracking legislation and seeking to influence as appropriate
  • Work in collaboration with legal team colleagues to interpret new laws and regulations and develop a strategy to adhere to the requirements of such laws and regulations within the required regulatory timeframe
  • Drive operational efficiencies by setting measurable goals and work on leveraging and deploying new and existing technologies to improve efficiencies in the Compliance program across the company
  • Manage and mentor compliance team members
  • Prepare and present clear and concise compliance reports to senior leadership and the Board of Directors, as requested
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 15 years of experience in health care compliance in a medical device, life sciences, pharmaceutical or health care provider or payor environment as an internal resource or as a consultant
  • 5 years of experience managing a team

  • Prior experience in the development/deployment of a company-wide compliance program, including: policy setting and development, compliance operations, risk-assessment and mitigation, training & awareness, auditing and monitoring, investigations, discipline, communications and compliance culture/leadership
  • A bias for action even in the face of ambiguity and complexity
  • Highest standards of integrity and good judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Practical and creative leader with strategic business acumen
  • Team player able to work effectively up, down and across the organization
  • Experience presenting to and working directly with company C-suite members
  • Service orientation towards internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to distill complex information to essential elements and communicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) Certification
  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, currently in good standing with a state bar association, with no history of ethical violations

  • General office environment, may sit for long periods of time
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required up to 15% of the time

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $244,400.00 - $354,380.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
