Summary:

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities:

Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating. Assists with keeping patient rooms and areas stocked, clean and orderly.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements.

Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Assists with transporting patients, as needed.

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care. Other Information: **EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date.
