About the Role
The Value Engineer, as part of the Global Value Engineering team, will collaborate with
current and prospective clients to explore, understand, justify, and realize business
value. This is a strategic role within Kyriba Sales that helps increase the addressable
global market by combining experience in treasury management, corporate finance,
procurement, strategic consulting, and Kyriba Enterprise knowledge.
You will consult with corporate finance, treasury and accounting departments to analyze
their processes, review them against best practices, and recommend solutions. The
core of the role is to identify, measure, and articulate the value of a Liquidity and Risk
Management System using a proven, quantitative methodology, assisting both Kyriba
sales and clients in justifying investment opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Strategic Client Engagement:
○ Support the sales division's lead generation by creating and presenting a Point
of View (PoV) (hypothesis-based proposal).
○ Develop and deliver compelling Business Cases; to support the internal
decision-making process for companies considering TMS implementation. This
includes:
■ Assessing the current situation and defining key challenges.
■ Benchmarking operational maturity and risks using proprietary assessment
tools.
■ Proposing a target state and creating a roadmap for operational
advancement.
■ Calculating the return on investment (ROI) for the system.
○ Convey customer requirements to Product Management teams.
● Thought Leadership & Content Creation:
○ Serve as a speaker at various marketing events (seminars/webinars).
○ Create content such as blogs, white papers, and customer case studies.
○ Contribute new intellectual property and publish new content to ensure the
Kyriba Value Engineering team maintains its market leadership.
● Internal Collaboration & Enablement:
○ Support other Sales Enablement initiatives, including new-hire onboarding and
ongoing sales training.
Education, Experience & Skills
● Education:
○ 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology, or Business.
○ Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
● Experience:
○ 5-10 years of experience in Treasury, Treasury Technology (e.g., cash
management, FX hedging, hedge accounting), or Corporate Finance.
○ Experience as a business consultant in finance/accounting, combined with one
of the following:
■ Treasury operations experience at a company listed on the Tokyo Stock
Exchange (Prime Section) with sales of 100+ billion JPY.
■ Solution proposal experience at a TMS or ERP (treasury domain) vendor.
■ Solution proposal experience in transaction banking at a megabank.
○ Experience with business case creation, analysis, research, and delivering
strategic cases for change to large corporations.
○ Experience with Kyriba Enterprise Software is a plus; otherwise, significant
experience in the Enterprise Software space as a Value Engineer or Pre-Sales
expert is valuable.
● Skills & Competencies:
○ Bilingual Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills in
both English and Japanese (written and verbal). Ability to discuss and negotiate
with internal and external stakeholders in both languages is mandatory.
○ Presentation Skills: Proven ability to create high-impact materials and present
effectively to C-level executives and department heads.
○ Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong logical thinking skills with the
ability to analyze data from financial statements/IR materials, identify core
issues, and construct logical hypotheses.
○ Executive Presence: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate
clearly and concisely with C-Level executives.
○ Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with a multinational, multifunctional team
across different geographies.
○ A keen interest in FinTech and Treasury Management Systems (TMS).
About the Team Opportunity
This position is pivotal in driving the transformation of corporate treasury departments in
Japan. You will be at the forefront of answering why transformation is needed, why a
system is necessary, and why Kyriba is the right partner. The ultimate mission is to
enhance the global competitiveness of Japanese companies through the power of
finance.
The market demand for treasury transformation is accelerating, and this role is key to
meeting that demand. You will join the global Value Engineering (VE) team, reporting to
the VE Director in Japan with an ultimate reporting line to a Managing Director in Japan
and a Value Engineering team leader in the United States. The team is multinational,
with members in the US, France, UK. Due to the global nature of the team, please
expect occasional team meetings in the early morning or late evening (Japan time) to
accommodate different time zones.
