Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, Propulsion Systems (PS) Business Unit is currently hiring for the Bacchus Value Stream Director position to join our team.  This position will be supporting at the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located at Bacchus (Magna) Utah.

Role description & Responsibilities:

The Director of Bacchus Value Stream reports to the Senior Director of Operations for Propulsion Systems and will lead the operations activities responsible for propellent manufacturing/mixing/casting and final assembly of rocket motors.

Due to working with energetic material, this leader must cultivate a safety-first environment while production in our business unit increases. The position will be responsible for the safe performance of all the duties included in the BVS scope including chairing several safety committees and boards.  They will be expected to meet schedule and cost targets in support of the program and customers who utilize the services. 

Key interfaces will be with all levels in the PS organization along with customer representatives who are required to support and verify the integrity of our manufacturing approaches.  The incumbent will directly lead the operations team and be responsible for the daily activities and direction of the safety, quality, engineering, process/test engineering, scheduling, and production control.  The leader will continue to drive innovation, capability advancement and world class testing at Northrop Grumman Space Systems.

Responsibilities include:

   Specific responsibilities include:

  • Establish, foster, and maintain a culture of Safety First.

  • Drive a culture of compliance to command media, standards, and best practices.

  • Initiate continuous improvement activities to create high quality and efficient systems and standards.

  • Manage multiple program priorities and engineering deliverables within approved budgets

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other organizations including other disciplines in Science & Engineering, Program Management, Process Engineering, Tool Design, Operations, and Safety & Mission Assurance.

  • Develop, communicate and implement strategies that drive safety, quality, schedule, and cost continuous improvement.

  • Work on problem solving and failure investigations of technical issues

  • Drive timely and clearly communicated decisions and recommendations

  • Work closely with the Program Managers to manage technical execution of the detailed program plan

  • Champion company values, through respect, team building, and collaboration. 

 Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in engineering or business preferred.

  • Eight or more years in leadership as well as 10 years related experience in manufacturing or testing operations, engineering, and/or program management.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a large and diverse group, establish clear expectations, inspire commitment, build teams, value diversity and put people first.

  • Experience working with unionized employees

  • Ability to instill accountability into organizational performance

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Engineering fundamentals and leadership skills that lead to safe and high-quality manufacturing and testing of complex and technically demanding products.

  • Ability to foster implementation of continuous improvement projects in a controlled and safe manner.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply lean thinking principles and tools in order to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Ability to formulate and execute complex project plans and initiatives.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong business acumen and a clearly demonstrated commitment to open communication and customer satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous development and enhancement of department personnel, including fostering a gratifying, collaborative work environment where employees are valued, empowered to undertake challenges and are encouraged to be innovative.

Salary Range: $155,100.00 - $232,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
